92 years from death of politician and statesman Nikola Pašić commemorated at the New Cemetery of Belgrade

On the occasion of the 92nd Anniversary from death of politician and statesman Nikola Pašić, the Assistant Mayor of Belgrade, Andreja Mladenović paid his respects and laid flowers to the last resting place of Nikola Pašić, on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

Elaborating the role of Nikola Pašić, Andrija Mladenović pointed out that Pasic was one of the most prominent figures in Serbian politics and what is not widely known,

Veteran’s Day Commemorations at the New Cemetery of Belgrade – December 4, 2018

Within the Veteran’s Day related commemorative activities, the wreaths were laid to the Memorial Ossuary of Belgrade Defenders (1914-1918), and Memorial Ossuary of the Serbian Soldiers Fallen in the course of the Serbian-Turkish (1876-1878) and Serbian – Bulgarian War (1885). The wreaths were laid by the high ranking officers of the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of Defense Ministry in addition to the representatives of the associations for fostering the traditions of Serbian liberation wars.

Canadian delegation visiting the Great War memorials at the New Cemetery in Belgrade

Ogranized by the Department of Migration Policy, Diaspora and Social Security Agreements of the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on November 16, 2018, a Canadian delegation accompanied by the Ambassador Dr Ljiljana Niksic and descendants of WWI heroine Milunka Savic, visited the final resting places of legendary Serbian WWI commanders and other significant memorials at the New Cemetery of Belgrade,

Delegation of the City of Obninsk – visiting the Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Defenders and New Cemetery of Belgrade

In the course of its official visit to the Municipality of Palilula, the Delegation of the City of Obninsk, headed by the Mayor Vladmir Sapsa, visited the Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Defenders on November 16, 2018 in order to pay respects and lay a wreath onto the Monument to the Red Army Soldier within this memorial complex.

Commemoration at the Austro- Hungarian Military Cemetery- WWI Armistice Centenary

On November 10, 2018, the commemoration ceremony intended to honor Austro-Hungarian soldiers killed during the battles for Belgrade in the WWI in addition to all casualties of the Great War, was held at the Austro-Hungarian Military Cemetery within the New Cemetery of Belgrade. This year, the ceremony was especially dignified due to the upcoming centenary of the WWI Armistice.

Armistice Day Commemorations at the New Cemetery of Belgrade – 100 Years Anniversary of WWI Armistice

Each November at the New Cemetery of Belgrade is marked with the series of commemorations devoted to all victims of the Great War. In a view of the upcoming Centenary of the WWI Armistice, two significant events will take place during this week at the New Cemetery in Belgrade:

The first Commemoration devoted to the victims of the Great War will be held on Saturday,

“Days of Freedom” – Commemoration of 100 years’ anniversary liberation from of Belgrade in WWI – (New Cemetery in Belgrade – Serbia)

Within the event „Days of Freedom“, and on the occasion of WWI Armistice Centenary and Commemoration of 100 years anniversary liberation of Belgrade in WWI (November 1), on November 1, 2018 the wreaths were first laid at the WWI French Military Cemetery, by the French State Secretary for Defense, Geneviève Darrieussecq, Serbian Minister for Labor,
