Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade Art History Department Student Practice

As a part of the 7th Student practice organized for the students of Art History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, a special theme group “Architectural Monuments of the New Cemetery” was formed, due to significant interest among the students, in addition to exceptional cultural and historical value of the New Cemetery of Belgrade.

On May 26, 2017, the representatives of the Public Utility Company „Grosuplje“ from Slovenia visited the Public Utility Company Funeral Services. The visit was organized by the City of Belgrade Secretariat for Defense, Emergency Situations, Communications and Coordination of Public Relations. PUC “Funeral Services”, Dragan Baltovski greeted the guests in terms of short introduction, which was followed by the tour of the New Cemetery guided by art historian Violeta Obrenović.

Alleys of Eternity – Museum night at the New Cemetery

The New Cemetery of Belgrade had opened its gates for the fifth time for the visitors on the occasion of the Museum Night. Within this year’s 14th Museum Night, entitled “Big and small revolutions”, the visitors to the New Cemetery had an opportunity to remember significant military commanders, statesmen, authors, scientists, actors and other creative individuals who participated in building of our culture and forming of the spirit.  

Centenary of WWI Field Marshal Putnik Death Commemorated at the New Cemetery of Belgrade

The Ceremony of Soil Nugget Extraction at the location of Red Army Soldier Monument – Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Liberators

A soil nugget was symbolically extracted yesterday, from the specific spot at Memorial Cemetery of Belgrade Liberators where the remains of Belarus soldiers killed in the course of the “Belgrade of Operation“ (1944) were buried. The nugget will be placed in a special capsule, dispatched to Belarus and laid in the All Saints Memorial Church in Minsk.

14th Musem Night at the New Cemetery of Belgrade – Alleys of Eternity

In the course of this, 14th Museum Night, to be held on May 20, 2017, the visitors of the New Cemetery will have an opportunity to remember significant military commanders, statesmen, authors, scientists, actors and other creative individuals who participated in building of our culture and forming of the spirit.  Different periods of their lives and work enabled the visitors to see their greatness within the time they lived and worked in a different light.

Commemoration of 76 years from Belgrade Airs Strikes on April 6, 1941 – Remembering casualties

This heartbreaking event was commemorated by laying wreaths and paying respect at the Memorial Cemetery for the Victims of Belgrade Air Strikes in 1941, within the New Cemetery of Belgrade. The wreaths are laid by Minister of Employment, Labor, Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin, Mayor of Belgrade Siniša Mali, decedents and representatives of associations cultivating the tradition of Serbian liberation wars.
