Each January 20th, the state ceremony of paying respects and laying wreaths to commemorate the anniversaries of passing of the great WWI military commanders, Filed Marshal Živojin Mišić, Field Marshal Petar Bojović and General Pavle Jurišić – Šturm is held at the New Cemetery of Belgrade.
The wreaths at the final resting places of the WWI military commanders were laid by the representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social affairs (Assistant Minister – Negovan Stanković), representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces led by the Chief of the General Staff, General Ljubiša Diković, Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Andrija Mladenović, in addition to the delegations of the Association for Honoring the Traditions of Serbian Liberation Wars until 1918, Alliance Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors 1912 – 1920, in addition to the other organizations fostering the traditions of the local liberation wars.
Field Marshal Živojin Mišić died on January 20, 1921. The bust and the monument of symbolic nature at his final resting place, entitled „Mourning Serbia” are the works of the prominent sculptor Đorđe Jovanović. Field Marshal Živojin Mišić was laid to rest at the Plot 28, Crypt no. 42 – II.
Field Marshal Petar Bojović died on January 19, 19.01.1945 and was laid to rest in the plot 6, Crypt no. 68 – III.
General Pavle Jurišić Šturm died on January 14,1922, and was laid to rest at the New Cemetery of Belgrade, Plot 3, Crypt no. 3-II.
